SHAH ALAM: Almost 1,000 developers in Selangor will be blacklisted if they
fail to collect the strata titles that have been approved by the state
government for high-rise projects.
The warning came from the state after it had already blacklisted 16
developers who had failed to make applications for such titles for their
projects since 2003.
A total of 926 strata title applications for as many projects had been
approved and the developers had been given 60 days to pay the approval fees,
said Selangor State Secretary Datuk Ramli Mahmud.
He said the titles would be surrendered to them soon after they had settled
the fees within the period or else they would be blacklisted.
“The state will first blacklist such developers and write to the Housing and
Local Government Ministry and urge that their development licences will be
terminated,” he told a media conference at his office here Friday.
Ramli said the 926 approvals had been issued since the month of October and
some of these developers were left with only two weeks to act.
He said the mass approvals had been given as part of the state’s efforts in
reducing the backlog on applications.
“We have cleared almost 50% of the more than 4,000 applications and we are
in the process of clearing the rest by the end of this year,” he said
Ramli said the developers had no excuse for not paying the fees for the
approved titles since they had already collected the payment from the buyers
of their properties.
He also said that the state was expected to collect more than RM10mil in
revenue from the approval of the 926 strata titles.
