18/01/2007 The Star

MALACCA: An abandoned hotel at Melaka Raya would be revived in 18 months while two new hotels would also be built in 30 months' time here.

All projects would be undertaken by Lianbang Ventures Sdn Bhd, the developer for Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall, with an investment of RM300mil from foreign investors.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam toured Ambassador Hotel, the abandoned hotel, after the announcement on the investment was made by representatives from Lianbang Ventures.

Ambassador Hotel would be refurbished and renovated into a four and a half-star hotel, with 365 standard rooms and 480 suites.

It would be managed by Meritus Mandarin Hotel Singapore.

One of the new hotels would be a 20-storey building on an open land opposite Mahkota Medical Centre, housing 630 units of five-star serviced apartments. On top of that, the first two floors would serve as a commercial centre.

The other hotel would be built opposite Hotel Equatorial Melaka.
