SHAH ALAM: A housing developer in Rawang has been fined RM1mil for not
building four holding ponds as required under its development plan.
Selangor Infrastructure and Public Amenities Committee chairman Datuk Abdul
Fatah Iskandar said the company had committed four offences under Section 71
of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.
It was fined RM250,000 for each offence, he told reporters when inspecting
the project with Selayang Municipal Council enforcement officers yesterday.
He said the four holding ponds were located next to the North-South
Expressway and if not built properly, could result in flooding on the
highway when it rains.
Asked whether the fine would be reduced if the developer rectified the
situation, Fatah said: “If they come to me, there will be no discount.”
The developer would still have to rebuild the ponds according to the plan,
he said. – Bernama
