THE sell-then-build housing concept, which has been practised for decades
and still continues, has benefited housing developers and victimised many
innocent and ignorant house buyers.
Hence, I fully support the build-then-sell (BTS) housing concept that has
been adopted in principle by the Government ("Nod for build-then-sell
housing concept" — NST, June 23).
I have strong faith that the BTS concept will bring the victimisation of
house buyers to an end.
Though we do have sympathy for small-scale housing developers, saving
innocent house buyers from becoming the victims of problematic developers
still deserves greater priority.
It is much easier for the Government to prevent such victimisation from
happening than to cure the problems that crop up later.
The abandoned housing estates scattered around us are glaring manifestations
of our failure to cure the problem of unscrupulous housing developers.
