Gurney Heights folk stood up
by City Hall officers again

KUALA LUMPUR, April 6:
The woes of Gurney Heights Condominium residents continue.
For two years now they have been unable to meet City Hall officials to air
their grouses.
Scheduled meetings were always called off at the last minute.
Yesterday’s appointment with City Hall was no different.
Gurney Heights Condominium Residents and Owners Association (GHRA) president
Asharat Ali said it was the sixth meeting in the last two years that City
Hall decided to cancel at the eleventh hour.
He said association members had flown in from overseas to attend meetings
with City Hall only to be told that it was called off.
Yesterday’s date was to replace a meeting that was similarly postponed on
March 31.
“We were only told the meeting was cancelled when we turned up after turning
up at City Hall office at 8.30am. They told us they would notify us of the
next meeting.
“The next one will be our last attempt before the association exercise its
rights.”
Four association members were at City Hall at 8.30am when they were told
that its director-general, Salleh Yusof, who was to chair the meeting, was
taken ill.
Asharat said there was only one City Hall officer, who was standing in for
Salleh, present to take down notes.
He said the association was looking forward to finding a solution to
problems related to the certificate of fitness, defects to the units and
security.
“We also handed over a letter on the list of grouses at the meeting and was
hoping to discuss it with Salleh.”
It was reported last Wednesday that the residents were tired of complaining
to the developer and City Hall of their various problems.
City Hall could not be reached for comment yesterday.
