Greater efficiency, faster
approval needed
The Star 20/04/2006
THE Ninth Malaysia Plan’s demand for greater efficiency and faster approval
by government departments is long overdue.
It is exasperating when the simplest processes take an unnecessarily long
time.
For example, to sell an apartment that is built under a project between
Dewan Bandar Raya Kuala Lumpur and a private developer, the
bank requires that the owner obtain a letter of consent from the developer.
Now, although there is no law requiring it, the vendor also has to obtain a
letter of consent from DBKL as well.
A consent letter from DBKL, which should be issued as a matter of course,
takes at least six months.
During this time, the sale remains in a limbo with the bank loan, the
purchaser and the vendor in a state of uncertainty and anxiety and the sale
may even be aborted.
I don’t understand why this letter from DBKL takes such a long time in this
technological age. Here’s hoping for some improvement after the 9MP.
EFFICIENCY,
Kuala Lumpur. |
