New homes cracking up after
one year

KLANG: Some 48 home-owners at Taman Sentosa, Fasa Wangsa 2, are not sure if
they can call their abode, home.
Since moving in a year ago after the developer, Klang based Sweet Choice Sdn
Bhd, handed over the houses to them, life has been nothing but a nightmare.
Taman Sentosa, Fasa Wangsa 2 is a mixed development of 48 units of
townhouses and 31 units of double-storey terrace houses.
Speaking on behalf of the residents, 28-year- old S. Kumutha said countless
problems have surfaced such as cracks on the walls ceilings and beams
sinking car porch uneven ground due to poor foundation and water leaking
from the fuse boxes in their houses.
The accounts executive who lives along Jalan Hulubalang 28/KS7 said cracks
started to appear in her double-storey three-bedroom town- house after
shifting with her sister and her brother-in-law last March.
"The developer came to repair, but they did not get to the root of the
problem. As a result, the cracks became bigger and now, there are gaps on
the wall and ceiling and tiles on the floor are cracking. To make matters
worse, the porch is sinking. When it rains, water collects there," said
Kumutha.
That was just "the beginning of the problems houseowners are racing.
She said some house- owners have difficulty closing the sliding doors due to
the uneven ground.
"The developer is also not efficient when it comes to repairing the defects.
We have to wait for weeks and at times up to a few months just to get a
response from them after filing a report on the defects.
Are they trying to drag the matter until the warranty period ends?" asked
Kumutha.
She subsequently filed a report with Klang Consumers Association. |
