Fed-up condo folk want company
out

KUALA LUMPUR: Enough is enough! Tired of having to put up with their
management company’s inefficiency in running their housing scheme, residents
of Gurney Heights Condominium in Jalan Bukit Keramat are forming their own
company to do the job.
"We have no more patience... not after no less than six meetings with City
Hall and Mampu Jaya Sdn Bhd, our developer, over the past two years to
discuss our problems," said Asharat Ali, president of Gurney Heights
Condominium Residents and Owners Association (GHRA).
He claimed that at every meeting, residents were promised that their
problems would be looked into but nothing has changed.
Among the problems faced by them are poor security and maintenance service
and abuse of the scheme’s facilities by strangers.
They claimed that security is not up to the mark and strangers were allowed
to walk in and out freely.
"We have strangers using our swimming pool. We have also recorded several
break-ins lately," Asharat said when met at the scheme yesterday. Also
present was GHRA treasurer Zainol Ibrahim.
Asharat said the security guards always claimed ignorance when it was
pointed out to them that strangers were making use of the condo’s
facilities.
"To worsen matters, we don’t even know which one among them is a guard as
they do not wear uniforms," he said.
He said at least five reports were lodged on various cases at the Sentul
police station.
One of the reports was on March 21 after they discovered two Indian
nationals living in one of the store rooms next to their car park.
"We pay RM330 for maintenance and the sinking fund every month and get
nothing in return," Asharat said.
He said they would present their decision to form their own management
company in a meeting with City Hall, the scheme’s proprietor, on Friday.
"At this meeting, we will also set the dates for the formation of the
company," he said.
During our visit to the scheme yesterday, we were greeted by a guard in
plainclothes.
We also noticed severe leaks and cracks at several parts of the building,
especially near the car park.
There was also an exposed live wire running across the road near the
entrance.
When contacted, the office of Choy Tai Seng, the managing director of Mampu
Jaya Sdn Bhd, said they would issue a statement.
Comments from City Hall could not be obtained. |
