Call To Expedite Work On
Abandoned Low Cost Housing Project
Bernama 16/03/2006
TEMERLOH, March 16 (Bernama) -- The state government has been urged to
expedite work on a low cost housing project at Tanjung Perah, Kerdau, which
has been left abandoned since 11 years ago.
Kerdau State Assemblyman Datuk Redzwan Harun said the project, carried out
in 1995, involved construction of 198 units costing RM25,000 each.
He said work on the project was abandoned by the contractor believed to be
facing financial difficulties.
"Infrastructure problems, like poor drainage and the condition of the
(completed) houses have resulted in the local authority not issuing the CF (
certificate of fitness)," he added.
Redzwan said he was made to understand that a special committee, led by the
State Secretary, had been formed to rehabilitate the project.
"I have received many complaints from the house owners who are making salary
deductions to pay the housing loans but the houses are not ready," he added.
