A TOTAL of 58,685 buyers were affected when 261 housing projects were
abandoned between 1990 and last year.
Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun said the
projects comprised 88,410 houses.
Of the abandoned projects, she said 93, comprising 17,450 houses, were
revived.
Another 10 abandoned projects involving 4,191 houses were being revived by
new developers, she said.
“While another 149 abandoned projects have the potential to be revived, nine
others were not viable,” she said, adding that the Ministry was sympathetic
towards buyers in such schemes.
She said the Ministry had advised the affected housebuyers to establish a
Housebuyers Committee which would then meet and discuss with the relevant
parties on how best to resolve their problems.
