KUALA LUMPUR: The Housing Developers Act (Amendment) 2002 should be amended
again so that stern action could be taken against errant developers, said
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo.
This, he said, would enable legal action to be taken against developers who
breach terms of the sale and purchase agreements for the provision of for
basic amenities and road and drainage systems before the Certificate of
Fitness is issued by local authorities.
He said the existing Act did not provide for a remedy when irresponsible
developers handed over keys to housebuyers without even applying for the
certificate.
