A victim of red tape

20/02/2006 New Straits Times

I SYMPATHISE with Azmi Atan, "No home and no keys" (NST, Feb 16).

While he has neither a house nor the keys, I have a house but no government loan.

The bureaucratic process to buy the house has been a painful experience.

I have complained to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, the housing loan section of the Treasury, the Public Complaints Bureau and the co-developer, the Selangor Development Corporation (PKNS).

None of them has been able to help me obtain the master title of my house in Section 7, Shah Alam.

Without it, I am not able to apply for a loan as the housing loan section requires the master title for approval.

PKNS is unable to provide me a copy as the Shah Alam Land Office will not release it for the simple reason that PKNS did not apply for it.

The bank loan that I had to resort to causes a huge dent in my finances.

I will remain a victim of bureaucracy untill retire in 12 years.

Where's the accountability here?

RUGAYAH HASHIM
Shah Alam
