Show house can be useful decor
guide for buyers
The Star 06/12/2006
I READ with interest, as a house builder, the suggestion that model houses
should be left bare and look exactly what buyers will get eventually, “Show
houses are misleading” (The Star, Dec 2).
More than just a gimmick to make houses more saleable, if really there is a
need for such, a show house is an honest presentation of what can be
attained.
House buyers know that. They pick up a lot of ideas, free of charge, to
renovate or furnish the house later on.
Usually, a bare house is also shown so that the buyers can see what they
will get.
Should dress designers not use supermodels to present their new designs?
Would their buyers know that they would not look like that when the dress is
on them?
Another amusing thought comes to mind. If you present your new girl friend
to your parents and other members of the family, should she come as herself,
without make-up?
Professional dressmakers and make-up artists can create illusion.
