THE developer of Sri Gotong Apartment has denied amending the building plans
without the approval of the Selayang Municipal Council.
Benih Murni Sdn Bhd managing director Khoh Siew Kim said claims by the
residents were not true.
“There is no question of compensating the residents. We had MPS’s approval.
You can check with the council. It’s legal, said Khoh.
The issue was raised in May at a meeting with residents’ representatives
which was chaired by a Selangor State Councillor.
Yesterday, The Malay Mail reported that the residents held a protest against
the company over the matter.
Topping their list was the construction of 16 studio apartments on the fifth
floor meant for recreation.
They were also unhappy with a pub on the fifth floor, the use of an access
card from Dec 1 costing RM40 a month for parking as well as the developer’s
failure to apply for strata titles.
Khoh said the studio apartments were built to reduce the number of shoplots,
which is designated for commercial and recreational use.
As for the access card, Khoh said the decision was made to fulfil a
requirement by the Selangor Housing and Properties Board.
On the strata title, he said the company had already submitted the
application.
“We are waiting for approval from the Selangor Land and Mineral Office. It
usually takes two to three years for approval. In some cases, 10 years,he
said.
Khoh also said an MPS engineer had verified that the changes would not pose
any danger to the residents.
“If they want to complain to the Menteri Besar, go ahead,he said.
