DEVELOPERS in Penang have to immediately dispose of rubble left after
structures are demolished for development.
State municipal council infrastructure and traffic standing committee
alternate chairman Tan Yoke Cheng said this should be done to ensure that
the rubble would not pose a threat to residents in the vicinity.
He said he would ask Tenaga Nasional to look into complaints by Jelutong
Jaya residents and those living near Perak Lane of live electricity cables
being left unattended to at sites of demolished areas.
Penang DAP action team chief Tham Weng Fatt said developers had torn down
old houses near the Jelutong Jaya flats in August but have yet to clear up
the rubble.
“There are about 40 houses here. More than 20 houses have been pulled down
but the wood and bricks are left lying around.
“There are still several families living in the area.
“The electricity meters were removed but live cable wires are left hanging
haphazardly and electricity still running through the wires,” he said.
”I approached TNB recentlyand highlighted to them seven areas where live
cable wires were left hanging dangerously.
“They told me something would be done but so far only the cables in Jalan
Slim were cleared,” he said.
