Towards smoother running of condos

I REFER to the letters, “Use proper channels to settle condo disputes” (The Star, Nov 13) and “Better for PUAS to send bill to condo units” (The Star, Nov 15).

Condominiums are run by management corporations set up under the law, of which every owner is a member.

If the owners feel that the management corporation committee members elected from among the owners at an annual general meeting are not doing enough, they should volunteer their services.

The committee carries out voluntary work, trying to make ends meet on the meagre maintenance charges to provide decent common facilities.

Those who refuse to pay maintenance charges are burdening other owners who do pay.
