PENANG: An ironing board
which was flung out of a high-rise flat at Jalan Gangsa here landed on
the roof of a six-month-old Kenari car.
Furious over the incident that occurred on Tuesday, a property
management company is offering a RM3,000 reward to nail the culprit.
“I’m offering the reward as the object could have caused death if it
had hit someone,” said Robert Bench proprietor Robert Tan.
He said the same person was believed to have thrown down a stone
which damaged the roof of a car in April.

“In the past, a brick and even a wok had been thrown down the
22-storey flat,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Housewife Noriyah Mohd Sidik, 29, said she was shocked when told that
the ironing board had landed on her husband’s car at 4pm.
“My husband had sent the car for repairs,” she said. She estimated
that it would cost more than RM400 to re-pair the dent.
Tan said the company had offered a RM1,000 reward for information on
the culprit responsible for an earlier incident on Oct 19.
“As such an incident had occurred again, we are raising the reward
sum to RM3,000,” he said.
The company, Tan said, had also offered a RM1,000 reward hoping to
nab shoe thieves in an apartment it was managing in Jelutong two years
ago.
“We caught the thief and the money was shared by the security guards
and a resident,” he said.
Property consultant Michael Geh said this was the first time he had
heard of a property management company offering a reward to catch
thieves and vandals.
“It is an innovative approach,” he said.
