House owners happy with Bill
Malay Mail 30/11/2006
PROPERTY owners interviewed by The Malay Mail agreed on the importance of
the new Bill.
T.L. Lau, a lecturer from Puchong, said the move would benefit property
owners who are often at their wit’s end.
“It is unfair that those who pay their fees do not get the services promised
because of others who do not pay,” she said.
Lau sold her condominium in Petaling Jaya last year because she was unhappy
with the services.
Shaetra Randiwal, a teacher from Damansara Utama, said the public would feel
more confident investing in condominiums if there was an avenue for them to
seek redress.
Having returned from abroad, she had been scouting for a condominium to buy,
but has been confronted with horror stories of poor maintenance at nearly
every property she visited.
Azizah Ujang, a housewife living in a high-rise condominium in Petaling Jaya,
said property owners are the culprits behind poor maintenance.
“They don’t pay regularly but expct the best service and rarely, if ever, do
they get involved in the resident’s associations,” she says.
“With a Commissioner Of Buildings in every State, errant developers and
property owners can be dealt with.”
