THE recent tragedy in which Dr Liew Boon Horng lost his life is a sobering
reminder that construction sites are dangerous places, especially when
insufficient care is taken to ensure materials are stored safely.
Abandoned projects, too, pose a danger and one wonders what the authorities
are doing about it.
Safety requirements clearly spell out that materials and equipment are to be
stored in such a way as to prevent danger to any person arising from sudden
collapse or unintentional movement of such materials or equipment.
Throw the book at construction companies when safety measures are breached.
