THERE will be no increase in assessment rates for properties in areas under
the jurisdiction of Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) for 2006.
Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng said there were also no plans to
increase the rates next year either.
“This is because assessment fees constitute only about 50% of the council’s
annual revenue,” he said during a children’s New Year party at Sheraton
Subang Hotel and Towers yesterday.
“The council has other sources of revenue such as car parks and rentals from
hawker centres.”
Lee said the council was efficient in collecting assessment arrears from
residents.
“For example, an increase is imposed within six months after a build-up area
of a property has changed due to renovations,” he said.
“The council also employs debt collectors,” said Lee. “Legal action can be
taken against those with assessment arrears.”
