Falling boulders damage two
houses

AMPANG: The back portion of two houses were damaged when four boulders fell
from a cliff in Taman Bukit Pandan, close to where another two rocks came
down just over a week ago.
No one was injured in yesterday's incident as the residents of the two
houses, together with their neighbours from another five, had been evacuated
when the first two boulders fell on Jan 5.
Last night, those living in another three double-storey houses in Jalan B/P
3 were also asked to leave for safety reasons after the 7.30pm incident.
An elderly resident, who was evacuated last night and only wants to be known
as Madam Chow, said she felt the ground trembling and heard loud noises
while cooking dinner.
“After the incident that occurred last week, I knew what was happening and
wanted to run but I was so scared that I could not move for a while.
“I then shouted loudly for my grandchildren, aged six and 10. One of them
was bathing but I told him not to get out of the house and not to worry
about his clothes,” she said.
The Ampang Municipal Council had put personnel on stand-by at the site since
last week and has also cordoned off the area.
Pandan MP Datuk Ong Tee Keat has arranged for the affected residents to stay
at a hotel here. |
