Water supply cut by condo
management

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23:
The Menara Duta 2 condominium in Segambut was in the news again yesterday.
This time, its residents returned home to find their water supply
disconnected by the condominium management about 4pm.
This caused many to postpone or cancel their appointments for the evening.
Supply resumed about 11pm.
The residents suspect the cut was in retaliation to The Malay Mail report on
maintenance woes at the condo yesterday.
About 70 residents later staged a peaceful protest against the water cut.
A spokesman for the residents, Song Chung Boon, said: “When we arrived home
from work, we were shocked to learn that water supply was cut, including to
those who had paid their maintenance fees in full.
“As the building manager had left the condominium by then, a resident
confronted a member of the staff at the management office.
“Subsequently, we were given keys to unlock the pump rooms,” he said.
Song claimed that when the manager discovered the keys were no longer in his
staff’s possession, he lodged a police report, claiming the residents had
stolen the keys from the office.
The man also brought three policemen to the condominium.
Song said: “We did not steal the keys. The staff willingly handed over the
keys to us.”
In a meeting that followed, representatives of the residents highlighted
their plight to the police who instructed the manager to turn on the water
pumps, and settle outstanding issues on the alleged shortcomings.
Song said the residents would lodge a report today, at the Jinjang police
station against the condo management.
