Kuala Lumpur - The Malaysian House Buyers' Association, (HBA), is asking the
government to implement the build and sell concept as soon as possible to
protect house buyers from being cheated by irresponsible housing developers.
Just recently, the Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had asked
all relevant parties to find ways and the best approaches so that people
from all walks of life can own houses easily in the various housing schemes
in the country.
Deputy President of HBA, Brigadier-General Datuk Goh Seng Toh said, the
concept must be implemented to push for positive economic growth through a
viable housing industry and to alleviate the sufferings of house-buyers.
Datuk Goh who was met after having a media conference in his office also
asked the authorities to take firm action against errant housing developers.
A total of 11, 857 complaints had been received since 2003 till March this
year.
Most of the complaints were related to abandoned housing projects,
developers absconding, no strata titles, no certificate of fitness and
misusing house-years' money.
Many of the house-buyers had to service bank loans even though the promised
houses had not yet been completely built.
House-buyers who had been cheated by developers are requested to make their
complaints to the HBA or to their respective Parliamentary representatives. |
