Cabinet decide on 'build and
sell'

PUTRAJAYA: The decision on whether the housing industry could shift to the
build-and-sell concept could only be taken by the cabinet and not the
Housing and Local Government Ministry.
Its minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said yesterday the cabinet is waiting
for the ministry to submit a paper on the concept.
He said the ministry is compiling information and feedback from the various
agencies. "It should not take too long," he said after attending the Merdeka
Day Parade yesterday.
On Tuesday, Public Accounts Committee chairman Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad
said the committee wants the ministry to hasten its efforts in introducing
the build-and-sell concept for the housing sector.
