Taman Duta folk see red over 'hush
hush' condo project

KUALA LUMPUR: Someone is going to build a condominium near them but
residents of Taman Duta are in the dark over who is doing it.
This came after Bandar Raya Development Bhd (BRDB) denied
it was undertaking any such project on a plot of land along Jalan
Gallagher here.
A spokesman for BRDB confirmed that the land, measuring
about five hectares (12 acres) next to Seri Duta 1 belongs to the company,
but he said it was uncertain as to the type of development they would be
undertaking there.
"We have various ideas and plans to develop the plot
next to Seri Duta 1 in the next couple of years. But we are unsure if it
is going to be for a condominium," he told The Malay Mail.
He said this in response to the claim by residents that
the developer of the project in question, has begun registering buyers for
the 209 condominium units since late last year although it had no
Development Order (DO) from the local authority.
Only with a DO can a developer undertake such a project. The condominium project was expected to be built within
the next three years.
The residents claimed that the developer had even
confirmed in some Press reports that the project will be launched in
November this year.
And the price was RM550 per square feet and each unit of
the condominium would have a built-up area of 2,500 square feet.
The residents have questioned BRDB's move, arguing that
it had breached the law. However, the spokesman dismissed the claim, saying they
have neither submitted any applications to the authorities for a DO nor
drawn floor plans for the project.
"It is absolute rubbish that we have done so. No, we do
not even have a DO or any approval for it," he said, stressing that the
land is meant for development for the future council. |
