MB: Choose properties wisely
The Star 9/5/2005
The public should choose wisely before investing in property, especially
when buying a home, Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan
said.
He said this was because the concept of a home was quite different from
that of a house.
“A house is just a property with a roof where anyone can stay but a home
is a place where we can grow with our families.
“I believe everyone yearns for a dream house and a place to call home,” he
said after launching a property exhibition organised by the Negri Sembilan
Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association (Rehda) in Seremban Parade
recently.
Rasah MP Datuk Goh Siow Huat, state secretary Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul
Hamid, state exco members Datuk Woo Ah Lek and Datuk Peter Lai Yit Fee and
state Rehda chairman Datuk Soam Heng Choon also attended the vent.
A total of 33 developers and four banking and financial institutions took
part in the three-day exhibition.
About 3,800 properties worth RM760mil, ranging from low- and medium-cost
houses to bungalows and vacation villas were offered at the expo.
There were also a host of other incentives including rebates, free legal
and processing fees and gifts like electrical items, club membership and
other discounts.
Mohamad said housing developers should realise the public had more choices
now and as such, they should do away with sub-standard houses and
emphasise quality and other factors such as a green environment.
“It is not that easy to be a good developer by just acquiring 8ha or 12ha
of land,” he said, adding that they must think long term and not out to
make quick profits.
Meanwhile, Soam said the property exhibition would serve as a one-stop
centre and good platform for members to meet potential house buyers.
He said with the support and co-operation of related agencies, including
the Employees Provident Fund and the Housing and Local Government unit,
many queries could be answered.
“We hope the public will take advantage of the current low interest rates
to buy the house of their dreams,” he said, adding that house prices were
expected to increase in coming years in tandem with the hike in building
material and labour.
Soam said their members also pledged to help the state government to
realise its campaign in encouraging the people to “work in Klang Valley
and stay in Seremban.” |
