I REFER to the letter “Residents don’t have a clue how fees are utilised” from Frustrated (The Star, March 30).

There must be thousands of owners and residents who have been given shabby treatment by developers of condominiums or apartments.

The way condominiums and apartments are run seems to suggest that developers are acting as if they are above the law. What they are good at is collecting hefty fees without providing decent services. If payments are slow in coming, they arbitrarily disconnect the water supply to the unit.

I wonder if the Housing and Local Government Ministry is aware of this unhealthy situation. Something must be done to safeguard the rights of owners and residents of condominium and apartment units.
