SHAH ALAM: The Shah Alam High Court has set May 24 to deliver the decision on a case filed by Abdul Ghapor Hussin and 86 other Taman Desaria residents against the Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MPPJ).

Judge Datuk Alizatul Khair Osman Khairuddin presided over the case which residents filed against the council to oppose the manner in which the building of two blocks of 12 and 14 storey low cost apartments with more than 3,000 units in their neighbourhood was done without adhering to procedures in accordance to the Town and Country Planning Act 1976.

They have been locked in battle with the MPPJ since early 2003, with several reports lodged with the police, the Anti-Corruption Agency and the Royal Police Commission, in addition to allegations of alterations made to the state Economic Council (MTES) minutes of meeting.

Also dragged into the case were the state authorities and the developer of the project Mentari Housing.
