Residents in
fear of falling rocks
The Star 11/3/2005 By THOMAS HUONG
RESIDENTS along Jalan Kasa-wari in Puchong Jaya are fearful that rocks
from a hill slope will fall onto roads near their homes.
Mahkota Suria Puchong Jaya Residents Association deputy pre-sident Cheow
Wee said already a rock had fallen from the hill last November and debris
were scattered on the main road of Persiaran Puchong Jaya Selatan.
“It took place during a heavy rainfall.’’ he said.
The hill is too close for comfort and rumbling sounds from it aren’t
comforting to residents who live along Jalan Kasawari in Puchong Jaya.
Jalan Kasawari 6 resident T. Y. Leong, 61, said he had heard rumblings
from the hill slope. Jenny Tan, 35, who lives in Jalan Kasawari 3, said
she heard it, too.
Jalan Kasawari 2 resident Tan Guan Kok, 60, said road accidents could
occur if the situation was not rectified.
“The rocks are loosened each time it rains,’’ he said.
Cheow said, after November’s incident, the developer cleared the debris
following complaints from the residents. “But, we want a long-term
solution.’’
A spokesperson from the developer urged the residents to be patient.
“We have informed our project engineer about the situation. The residents
can rest assured that action will be taken if necessary.’’ |
