Where's my refund? asks housebuyer
Malay Mail 4/2/2005
KUALA LUMPUR: It has been nine months and a surveyor has yet to get a
refund from a housing developer for his deposit for an apartment in
Selayang.S. Anthonysamy said he had sent a
cancellation letter to the developer, Delpuri Corporation Sdn Bhd, in May.
"I bought a three-room apartment at the Crystal Apartments in Taman
Selayang Mutiara and signed the Sales and Purchase agreement in January
last year," he said.
Anthonysamy paid RM5,780 as a deposit for the RM57,800
unit. "Due to financial problems, we could not settle the remaining sum. I
sent a cancellation letter for the purchase in May," said Anthonysamy, who
is attached to Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).
When he asked the developer about the refund cheque, he
was told that they would forfeit 10 per cent from the amount.
"I don't mind as long as the remaining amount is paid,"
he said. Anthonysamy, who is staying in Ulu Klang, said that on July 27,
he was informed by a staff from the developer that the refund cheque will
be ready within the next two weeks.
"However, until now, I have not received the cheque," he
said. On Jan 17 this year, Anthonysamy sent another letter to the
developer on the matter but to date there has been no reply. Delpuri's
manager Yah Mohamad, when contacted, said that she has no knowledge of
Anthonysamy's request and declined to comment further.
She advised Anthonysamy to go to their office to discuss the matter.
