What house buyers need to know
NST-Prop 03/12/2005
Here's an event that those
intending to buy a house or have already bought one off a developer's
colourful brochures should not miss: The "House Buyers' Protection Seminar'
that is being organised by National House Buyers Association Malaysia (HBA).
A fee of RM50 (RM65 for late and
walk-in registrants) is being charged for the three-and-a-half hour session,
which will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 9.
The seminar is focusing on the
rights and entitlements of purchasers in a contract of sale and the role of
the Housing and Local Government Ministry's Monitoring and Enforcement
Division, will also be useful for officials of residents' associations.
Another highlight of the seminar,
moderated by HBA secretary-general Chang Kim Loong, will be a session on the
ambit and jurisdiction of the Tribunal for Homebuyers Claims.
The speakers are senior Housing
Ministry officers Dr S. Parameswaran and Shahroni Sanusi, and lawyer, Albert
Soo.
Chang said HBA also welcomes
housing developers, contractors, vendors, officers from banks and financial
institutions to attend the seminar.
