Cracks in Bkt Sentosa homes
worry residents
The Malay Mail 20/12/2005
KUALA LUMPUR: Occupants in some 500 houses in the housing estate at Jalan
Anggerik 4D Bukit Sentosa Rawang are living in fear of their houses
collapsing with more cracks appearing.
The cracks, some as wide as 1.3cm, had appeared on the walls, floor and
ceiling since they moved into their double-storey houses in 2002.
Chairman of the residents association there, Mej Abdul Aziz Mahmud said they
had complained to the developer but no action was taken.
However, with more cracks appearing, the residents fear for their safety and
want the housing developer to find a solution.
While some residents attributed the situation to the shoddy land work by the
developer, several, including Hellen Wing, 40, said it was due to the
underground piping system.
The residents claimed that they had also raised the matter with the Hulu
Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) as well as the Malaysian Institute of
Public Works (IKRAM).
A check at the housing estate yesterday saw MPHS and IKRAM officers checking
the houses in the area.
IKRAM senior geotechnical engineer Fazlee Daud, when met, said, the
institute was examining the land and house structure after which a report
would be submitted to the MPHS. - Bernama |
