SUBANG JAYA: Residents of Wangsa Baiduri are against the proposal to build
two blocks of 22-storey condominiums in the area.
In a public hearing at Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPS) yesterday, 15
residents voiced their opinions with the representatives of the developer,
Emko Properties Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Road Builder (M) Holdings Bhd.
MPSJ councillor and Subang Jaya State Assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng, who
chaired the hearing, said it was held after the council received an
objection letter from the residents in July.
"A notice for letter of objection for the project was distributed to the
residents in June. It is part of the procedures under the Town and Country
Planning Act 1976 (Act 172)," he said.
Lee said the residents raised parking and traffic congestion issues during
the hearing.
"The residents stressed that the area is already crowded with the 1,3000
units in Wangsa Baiduri and several neighbouring condominiums," he
said.
"Residents said the access road is narrow and asked whether it will be
widened.
"We have also asked the developer to prepare a new traffic study, although
the same study had been done in 2000.
Wangsa Baiduri Terrace House Neighbourhood Association pro-tem secretary Toh
Kam Thim said; "It is important to voice our disgreement before the project
is approved rather than wait for the project to start and face problems
afterwards.
It is learnt that the area (Lot 14787) for the proposed project is meant for
an elavated car park and surau. |
