Flash floods problem after start of housing scheme
Malay Mail 5/1/2005
KLANG: Taman Mewah 8 residents are concerned over a housing project
taking
place near them. Their concern centres on the drainage for the
scheme.
Since work began six months ago, their houses have been hit by flash
floods.
Resident Salim Abdullah, 55, a retiree, said they had not faced
flash
floods before that. "We hope the authorities will find a solution,"
he
said.
Another resident, businessman Khairul Anwar Dalail, 38, from
neighbouring Taman Desa Permai, said he had complained to the Klang
Municipal Council (MPK).
The council cleaned the drains but the flash floods occurred again
after
a while.
The MPK complaint department confirmed that the residents had lodged
a
complaint and that cleaning work was done in December.
Its engineering officer said the main drain was built by the
developer
to MPK specifications. Work is being done to widen the drain.
