Land applicants owe deposit from 1999

SIX applicants seeking to acquire state land had not paid the Jasin Land Office the 50% deposit fees since 1999.

The 2004 Auditor-General’s report for Malacca said five of them failed to pay the deposit when submitting their applications for the acquisition.

It said the land administrator was undecided whether to rescind the applications.

The report said Yayasan Melaka incurred losses after two privatised housing projects, Taman Bachang Utama and Taman Bestari Jaya, failed to take off due to delays in the handing over of block land titles to the developers.
