Home buyer in a spot

KAVITHA’s dream house in Batu Caves is completed, but she’s still waiting
for the keys.
She wants to know what is delaying Sunway Mas Sdn Bhd from handing over the
keys.
“The project was completed in June, and we were promised that the keys would
be given to us in August. We have yet to receive them,” she says, adding
that she bought the house in June 2003.
The delay has put KAVITHA in a spot as she had sold the house she is
presently staying in because she could not afford to settle two housing
loans.
She claims that she had contacted the project manager many times, and was
told that the company was still waiting for the approval from Syarikat
Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) before issuing the the Certificate of Fitness
(CF).
“How long does it take to approve this?” she asks.
* A Sunway Mas Sdn Bhd spokesman says that except for Syabas, they have
received all the approvals for the CF.
He says that, as the developer, they have complied with all the requirement
set by Syabas.
“We have also asked for temporary water supply but there was no reply from
them,” he says, adding that the developer is also affected by the delay.
Syabas Corporate Affairs senior manager Abdul Halem Mat Som explains that
the delay is to allow them to study the technical aspects of the area.
“Nevertheless, on Oct 14, we wrote to the developer that we would approve
the temporary water supply application for the area provided that they
comply with the conditions and requirements imposed,” he says. |
