Condo residents cry foul

GOMBAK: Residents of Idaman Sutera condominium in Gombak are frustrated with
the management for not providing good services.
Taman Idaman Sutera Residents’ Association president Foong Choong Ching said
the management raised their maintenance fee from RM60 to RM80 last year but
the services provided were unsatisfactory.
"Our two swimming pools have had their walls covered with moss for a month.
Fire hoses are kept in the store rooms when they should be attached to the
emergency pipes on every floor for easy reach of fire-fighters," he said.
Foong said the centralised antenna is faulty and this resulted in poor
television reception, while the gymnasium has faulty equipment. In addition,
the sixth floor car park roof is leaking.
"Broken lamps around the premises, faulty lifts and a locked garbage
disposal area, sum up our woes," he said.
He said the garbage area is only opened for the janitors while residents
have to pile bags of rubbish outside their units.
"This is unhygienic," said Foong. He said the automatic main gate is also
faulty and has yet to be repaired.
There are only five security guards manning the condominium. "The management
often gives us lame excuses such as lack of funds."
Foong said more than RM130,000 has gone missing from the condominium’s
sinking fund and the management does not have any explanation for this. The
residents pay RM15 to the fund every month.
The 736-unit condominium was opened three years ago. There are about 4,000
residents there.
He said the residents recently sent a letter to Housing and Local Government
Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting to highlight their problems.
The management office could not be contacted for comments. |
