Pilot project abandoned
The Star 7/9/2004
A PILOT project by Syarikat
Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) based on the build-and-sell concept
at Limbungan, Klebang in Malacca, has been abandoned since early
this year, Utusan Malaysia reported.
After a visit to the site of the project, which involves the
building of mostly low-cost town houses, the daily found it was like
any other abandoned construction site.
The daily said the signage at the site stated that the project was
to build 676 units of low-cost double-storey town houses, 114 single
storey low-cost houses and 59 shophouses on the state government
land in the Klebang Kecil (Limbungan) zone.
However, only a few units of the shophouses and town houses have
been partially constructed by the contractor.
The project started last year but had been abandoned since early
this year by the contractor due to financial difficulties.
Buyers under the project need only pay a minimum booking fee of
RM500 and not the usual 10% upfront.
Utusan Malaysia carried out the check at the site following a
statement by SPNB executive chairman Datuk Tengku Adnan Mansor that
this first project under the concept had begun eight months ago.
Berita Harian reported that all the Sepang village development and
security committees would be equipped with information technology
development centres soon.
Each centre, which would receive a RM10,000 allocation, would have
computer terminals and Internet access and provide IT training to
residents.
Sepang MP Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed said the centres, which will start
operating on Jan 1 next year, would also increase the residents’
income.
All the JKKK websites will be linked to the Sepang Parliament
website.
