Parking lots for
residents

RESIDENTS of Taman Bukit Bendera at the Hill
Railway Road in Penang will not have to compete with outsiders for
parking lots at their premises.
Air Putih state assemblyman Lye Siew Weng said each unit would be
alloted a parking lot by the developer of the high-rise project.
“I met the developer together with councillor Tang Heap Seng and
the Air Putih Village Development and Security (JKKK) committee
chairman Datuk Chuang Keng Kung recently.
“The developer has agreed to set aside parking space for the 164
residential units and also upgrade security at the apartment by
putting up a perimeter fencing surrounding the car park area,'' he
said, adding that there were also car park lots for commercial
purposes.
It was reported on Sept 6 that the residents claimed the project
developer had awarded a contract to a company to operate the parking
lots and charge them for parking.
The residents' spokesman Khoo Boo Liang, 29, had said that when the
residents signed the sale and purchase (S&P) agreement, it was
stated that owners of each unit were entitled to a parking lot each.
The apartment is located a stone throw away from the popular Penang
Hill.
When contacted, the developer H.H. Soon said he had agreed to allow
a free parking lot for each unit following the meeting with Lye, Tan
and Chuang.
However, he said claims by Khoo that the S&P agreement stated that
the owners of each unit were entitled to a parking lot each were not
true.
“It was never stated in the agreement that the owners were entitled
to a parking unit each,'' he said.
Soon also confirmed that the perimeter fencing, which was presently
1.2metre-high, would be built higher to provide better security for
the residents.
He said the owners, how-ever, have to pay a deposit of RM50 for the
parking card to enter the apartment premises.
“The deposit, which is just a one-time payment, is refundable,'' he
said.
He also said the residents would be able to park at their respective
parking lots “within a month'', depending on how soon they
registered with the private car park operator.
