RESIDENTS of Taman Bukit Bendera at Hill Railway
Road in Penang are fuming mad over a move to give access to the
public for the usage of their parking lots.
They claimed that the project developer had awarded a contract to
a company to operate the parking lots with certain fees.
Their spokesman Khoo Boo Liang, 29, said as a result, residents
now had to compete with outsiders for parking lots.
“When we signed the sale and purchase agreement, it is stated
that owners of each unit are entitled to a parking lot each,” he
told a press conference organised by Ayer Putih assemblyman Lye Siew
Weng on Saturday.
The apartment is located a stone throw away from the popular
Penang Hill.
Khoo added that the parking operator had issued notices to
residents that effective today, they would have to use Touch and Go
card to enter their apartment premises.
“We have to pay RM50 deposit for the card,” he said, adding that
for families with second cars, they need to pay RM100 for deposit
and another RM100 to be payable monthly as rental for a parking
lot.
Khoo described the new system as ridiculous as they are already
paying RM95 monthly for maintenance services.
Lye called on the developer to meet with the residents first
before implementing any system which affect residents to avoid any
misunder- standings.
Lye, who later contacted the developer, said the developer would
meet up with the residents soon to solve the problem.
He also urged residents to be patient while waiting for the issue
to resolved.
