Naive buyers they are
NST 13/9/2004
I AM not sure whether to empathise with them or feel indignant after
reading the recent report of a group of buyers protesting about
defects
and shoddy workmanship of their condominiums.
The housing industry consists of developers of varying reputations.
I am wondering why on earth some people still patronise developers
who
are not noted for their standard of quality and at the same time
have high
expectations.
In other words why do people buy a bad apple and complain that it is
not
good?
It is more ironic that the group might represent the same
cross-section
of society that complains about irresponsible developers but at the
same
time supports them by buying their products.
In today's market, buyers can access information on the property
market
quite easily. Purchases should be made based on prudent research.
Do not preach and do the contrary. Buyers themselves have to share
the
burden of blame with the builders.
