KOTA BAHARU, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- The call made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to housing developers to build the properties first and
then sell, should be made the model concept to convince house buyers in the
future.
Ghazali Daud, general manager of Syarikat Sentosa Jaya Sdn Bhd (SJSB), which
is Kelantan's largest bumiputera housing developer, said the concept was good
as it would reduce the uncertainties faced by house buyers due to irresponsible
housing developers.
"If that is what the government wants, then I support the call as it would assure
us of house buyers," he told Bernama when met at his office here Monday.
Abdullah last Thursday had suggested that the concept of building and then selling,
be adopted in order to relieve housebuyer’s burden of having to make their monthly
loan repayments to the bank when their bought houses are not even ready.
Ghazali said the practice of abdicating the responsibility of providing a completed
house to owners who have already paid for their houses, was bad and that developers
would have to find a way to solve the problem.
He said the company too had adopted the concept of build and sell several years
back to convince house buyers to buy their properties from them.
He said his company developed about 600 units of various categories of houses
yearly in Kelantan, Selangor, Terengganu, Pahang and Negeri Sembilan.
