on quality, PM tells developers

KUALA LUMPUR: Housing developers should examine their business
philosophy and try to deliver quality housing for quality living at
affordable prices, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi
said.
“As Malaysia gets more developed and its people more affluent and
discerning, quality living should be the paramount objective,” he
said at a tribute dinner for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad organised by
the Real Estate Housing Developers’ Association here last night.
He said development must be designed to promote interaction among
residents in the true spirit of a multicultural Malaysia.
He added that attention must also be paid to the housing needs of
special groups such as the disabled, single mothers and those in the
lower income.
Abdullah said developers had to think of ways to ensure the security
and safety of the residents.
“I must remind developers and all parties involved in the delivery
process that they are put in business by house buyers,” he said.
Earlier, at his department’s monthly gathering in Putrajaya,
Abdullah said central government agencies, like the Economic
Planning Unit and the Implementation and Co-ordination Unit, must
monitor the progress of infrastructure and development projects to
avoid these ventures from being abandoned. |
