RESIDENTS of Bandar Puteri in Klang staged a peaceful demonstration
last week at the developer’s site office to express their
dissatisfaction over the lack of action in resolving flooding and
sewage problems in their homes.
About 70 residents from Phases One and Two of Bandar Puteri gathered
in front of the IOI Properties Bhd site office to ask the developer
to come up with a plan to overcome the problems.
The residents’ spokesman, Joseph Lim, said whenever there was a
downpour, water would seep into their homes, damaging curtains and
electrical items.
Bandar Puteri, Klang, residents face flooding every time is a
downpour.
“Even after cleaning up the mess, the sewage water leaves a bad
odour and the presence of bacteria could cause illness, particularly
among children,” said Lim.
He added that every time there was a downpour in their area, the
residents of Bandar Puteri would be “trapped” as the only exit road
via Taman Sentosa would be flooded.
Lim said most people bought houses in Bandar Puteri mainly because
of the promise of a designated flyover connecting the area to Kesas
Highway.
“We were told that the flyover would help us reach Shah Alam and
Klang in five minutes and although it was supposed to be completed
by the end of last year, the project suddenly stopped halfway,” said
Lim.
IOI Properties Bhd customer service executive Kavitha Perumal said
the company was aware of problems faced by the residents.
“We urge the residents to bear with us as we had already directed
our road and drainage consultant to carry out an in-depth study of
the problems and they would be making their recommendations to us in
the next two weeks,” said Kavitha.
Asked about the flooding problems, Kavitha said it was a technical
matter and only her superiors could answer the questions.
On the delay in completing the dedicated interchange from Bandar
Puteri to the Kesas Highway, Kavitha said she was not in the
position to comment on the matter.
“All I can say is that we will fulfil our promise and complete it by
the end of this year,” she said. |
