Housebuyers are sceptical

PENANG: The Sri Bayu Project Action Committee is sceptical of the
State
Government's promise that the residents would be able to move into
their
new Sri Bayu apartments homes in Bayan Lepas before Hari Raya.
Its president, Mat Pozian Rashid, said although the housebuyers are
thankful that the State Government is working hard to look after
their
interest, they doubt the promises. "We bought the units more than 10 years ago and have been waiting
for
them to be completed ever since. There have been many problems
pertaining
to contractors, sub-contractors and other matters that kept delaying
its
completion." Pozian, who bought the house when his first child was one year old,
said
the kid is now in lower secondary. "You can imagine the frustration. We will only believe that we will
move
in when we get the keys," he said. He said the housebuyers not only had wait for their homes to be
completed, most of them have been servicing interest for their bank
loans. He said most of the families also have to rent houses while waiting
for
their homes to be completed. Pozian was responding to the announcement by State Exco in charge of
Housing, Culture, Arts and Heritage, Syed Amerrudin Syed Ahmad that
their
homes will be completed in a month's time and the buyers could move
in
before Hari Raya in November. Pozian said the committee and its members are grateful to the former
main contractor of the Sri Bayu project, Public Packages Holding
Berhad
(PPH) for thinking of their interest in this matter. |
