Displaced residents seek
completion of "guaranteed" flats

IDAMAN Putra Condominium Residents' Association chairman Albert Lee led a
group of residents in an amicable meeting with Medan Idaman Sdn Bhd
general manager K.S. Chai, recently to discuss a "Letter of Guarantee"
dated April 28, 1994 from the developer.Present
to facilitate the meeting was Federal Territories Ministry's Parliamentary
Secretary Yew Teong Look. Yew said the people concerned vacated their
homes in order for Medan Idaman Sdn Bhd to proceed with its construction
work.
In return, Medan Idaman issued a "Letter of Guarantee",
which stated that the residents would be registered as applicants for a
unit each of the proposed low-cost flats at Medan Idaman.
"However, it has been 10 years and the residents are
still waiting," Lee said during a site visit to the Medan Idaman area at
Batu 5, Jalan Gombak, Taman Medan Idaman, Kuala Lumpur.
Lee, 43, a businessman, was accompanied by Yew and the
residents as they went up to the highest floor of Idaman Putra condominium
to get a "bird's eye view" of possible sites for building the low-cost
flats.
Other committee members present were Mohd Sidek Hussain,
44, and Lim Yoong Ching, 48.
Referring to the map of the proposed site, Yew said
Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Mukim Setapak land title 27536 was
listed as 4,855 square metres.
Yew said he would refer to City Hall on the suitability
and status of the land and location. |
