PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi wants the Housing and Local Government Ministry to speed up work on a white paper for the Cabinet on proposals to accelerate the issuance of Certificates of Fitness (CFs).

"Although there is no time frame set for the submission of the proposals, this matter should be given top priority," he said in a press briefing after chairing a policy meeting with all 38 secretaries-general, the Inspector-General of Police and the Army Chief.

To a question, Abdullah said he has yet to receive any feedback from the ministry on his proposal to consider implementing the "build-and-sell" concept for the housing industry.

"I have only been getting feedback from newspaper reports. But I gather from developers that the concept is the best for the integrity of the industry and also positive response from housebuyers.

"The problem is that many developers may find funding their projects lacking. We will have to see how to resolve this."
