Residents of a low-medium cost (LMC) project in
Paya Terubong, Penang, have ex-pressed concern over water seeping
through their walls during heavy rain.
Taman Green residents association chairman Khor Khuat Ewe said they
feared that their building structure might be affected as rainwater
would seep through the cracks on the walls.
“When we complained to the management, they used cement to seal the
cracks but the problem still persisted,” he told a press conference
called by Penang municipal councillor Khoo Kay Hean yesterday.
Khor said that 40 of the 1,124 LMC units were affected.
“We worry that if the problem is not solved now, we will have to
fork out our own money as the warranty period for our units will
lapse soon,” he said.
Khor also said the developer had put up a barricade at 39 car
parking lots, depriving residents of their use.
Kay Hean said he met the developer’s representative on April 22 but
nothing concrete was achieved.
“The developer should sit down with the residents association to
find a win-win situation,” he said.
When contacted, BHL Properties Consultant property manager B.H.
Khoo said there was nothing structurally wrong with the building.
“Our engineers have checked the building and found it to be safe. As
for the water seepage, our contractor will rectify the problem,” he
said.
On the parking lots which were barricaded, Khoo said the bays were
meant to be rented out to residents.
“Some residents do not want to use our multi level car park and
prefer to rent the parking lots located at the ground floor,” he
explained, adding that there were sufficient parking lots for the
residents. |
