SHAH ALAM May 1 - The Selangor Low-cost House Registration programme
recorded poor response in its first day Saturday with only 364 out of
18,000 houses on offer being snapped up.
Selangor Real Estate and Housing Board deputy chief executive officer
Alinah Ahmad said the sold units were in Hulu Langat, Kuala Selangor,
Sabak Bernam, Bukit Jalil, Dengkil, Kajang, Klang, Kuala Langat, Gombak
and Sepang.
However, houses in unpopular areas, like Semenyih and Bukit Beruntung, did
not appeal to those visiting the three-day programme at the Dewan Jubli
Perak in Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah here, she said.
"The problem is that many visitors are not satisfied with the locations as
most want houses in Gombak and Petaling Jaya which are already sold out
under the state government squatter resettlement scheme," she said.
Urging those interested in purchasing low-cost houses to register for the
programme, she said the distribution of the affordable housing would be
done in a transparent manner with priority given to single mothers and the
disabled who were eligible.
