PETALING JAYA, May 16 (Bernama) -- Several developers have been
denied new housing projects after they were blacklisted by Housing
and Local Government Ministry, said its minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka
Ting.
He said these developers were blacklisted after their projects had
faced difficulties and they had encountered problems with buyers.
"Some developers have been told to pull up their socks...and I think
they get message, loud and clear," he told reporters after opening
the Kelana Jaya parliamentary service centre at Bandar Sunday here
Sunday.
However, he refused to identify or say how many developers had been
blacklisted or denied new housing projects.
"Such developers must resolve all problems before being allow to
apply for the new project," he said.
Ong said the ministry had to black list errant developers after
house buyers filed official complaints.
"For example, once the Housing Tribunal has decided their case, we
will tell the developer to resolve all the problems as we are
getting tougher on them," he said.
He said their applications for new housing projects would be turned
down unless they had resolved the problems with the buyers.
Ong also said the ministry had taken steps to tackle abandoned
housing projects to safeguard the interest of house buyers. |
