Ministry Denies New Housing Projects To Blacklisted Developer

PETALING JAYA, May 16 (Bernama) -- Several developers have been denied new housing projects after they were blacklisted by Housing and Local Government Ministry, said its minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting.

He said these developers were blacklisted after their projects had faced difficulties and they had encountered problems with buyers.

"Some developers have been told to pull up their socks...and I think they get message, loud and clear," he told reporters after opening the Kelana Jaya parliamentary service centre at Bandar Sunday here Sunday.

However, he refused to identify or say how many developers had been blacklisted or denied new housing projects.

"Such developers must resolve all problems before being allow to apply for the new project," he said.

Ong said the ministry had to black list errant developers after house buyers filed official complaints.

"For example, once the Housing Tribunal has decided their case, we will tell the developer to resolve all the problems as we are getting tougher on them," he said.

He said their applications for new housing projects would be turned down unless they had resolved the problems with the buyers.

Ong also said the ministry had taken steps to tackle abandoned housing projects to safeguard the interest of house buyers.
